Písac is a town located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Cusco region of Peru. Its name comes from the Quechua language and means "partridge bird." This town has a history that dates back to pre-Inca times, although its official foundation is attributed to the Incas during the reign of Pachacuti in the 15th century.

Its strategic location on the mountainside provided the Incas with an important defensive and strategic position. Additionally, the fertility of the valley's soils and the presence of the Urubamba River made Písac an important agricultural and commercial center for the Inca civilization.

The archaeological site of Písac, located atop the mountain overlooking the town, was built during the height of the Inca Empire. These ruins include impressive agricultural terraces, temples, astronomical observatories, and defense systems. From the top, one can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the valley.

The town of Písac retains its colonial charm with cobblestone streets, white houses, and picturesque squares. In addition to its historical and archaeological significance, Písac is known for its artisan market, where textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and other products crafted by local artisans can be found.
