Itinerary:

  • The Waqra Pukara Tour begins with pickup at the hotel between 4:30 am and 5:00 am. Once the complete group is gathered, we will travel in a tourist transport for 3 hours to the village of Santa Lucía, with a stop in Cusipata for breakfast.
  • Next, we will take a detour to Punta Carretera, which is a 15-minute journey along a winding road. There, we will prepare for 10 minutes before starting the 1 hour and 30 minute hike to Waqra Pukara, covering a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometers.
  • Once at Waqra Pukara, the guide will provide us with an explanation of the importance of the archaeological complex. Then, we will have free time to explore the site, take pictures and enjoy a packed lunch. Finally, we will return along the same path to Punta Carretera, where the transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusco, arriving approximately at 6:00 p.m.

We recommend:

  • Bringing a personal backpack with a capacity of 20 to 30 liters to store all your personal items.
  • It is necessary to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for the hike, such as waterproof shoes, short and long pants, sports t-shirts, and a rain jacket.
  • Don't forget to bring a water bottle with at least 2 liters of water, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and personal medications, including muscle relaxants, altitude sickness tablets, and headache medication.
  • It is also advisable to bring band-aids for scrapes, a sunscreen, sunglasses, hat or cap, and an extra battery for the camera.
